In Loving Memory Of

One Of Our

Board Members

Rita Jackson Bradley

Nashville, TN - October 20, 1950 - November 28, 2017. Preceded in death by her grandparents, J.B. Jackson and Jesse B. Jackson; and James Harvey Woodall and Lillian Maude Woodall; parents, J.B. Jackson Jr. and Mavoline W. Jackson. Survived by her husband, Henry J. "Hank" Abbott, daughter, Allison B. (Shane) Rollins; brother, Barry (Marla) Jackson; cousins, Christy (Kevin) Hamilton.

Rita grew up on a working dairy farm in Goodlettsville, TN. She loved gardening, flowers, growing things, and all of nature's beauty. A lifelong educator, Rita invested her life in helping a broad spectrum of others, from students and their families to friends, strangers, and newcomers to America. She was a graduate of Goodlettsville High School, and MTSU (Masters Degree in Reading Instruction) and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. A staunch supporter of Vanderbilt athletics, including football, men's and women's basketball, and baseball.

Lovingly cared for by TN Oncology at Summit, St. Thomas West and Midtown, and Alive Hospice. Donations in Rita's honor may be made to the Goodlettsville High School Alumni Association Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1707, Goodlettsville, TN 37070. A life well lived, Rita will be missed by many.

Visitation was held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, 127 N Main St., Goodlettsville Thursday from 4-8 pm. Memorial service was held at 11 am on Friday December 1 at Westminster Presbyterian Church 3900 West End Ave, Nashville, with visitation one hour prior to service time at the church.

We are excited about our new Alumni Room in the new Goodlettsville Middle School!

We are adding GHS memorabilia and also having our meetings there.

It is a large and beautiful room and we are so very proud of it!!

Reunion News

The 2023 all class reunion was a huge success! There were over 400 folks who attended! Everyone enjoyed seeing each other, looking at the composites, eating, looking at items in the alumni room, and the Sports Hall of Fame program. David Brooks did a great job with the program. All had a good time!

Golf Tournament News

The golf tournament was a huge success! We made over $6,900 for the scholarship program! There were 64 golfers that played. Everyone enjoyed a great meal and had a fun time. The GHSAA appreciates all those who played and made donations.

GHS Sports Hall of Fame Inductees for 2023

The inductees for the GHS Sports Hall of Fame are Phillip Dickens, John Allison, Dale Carnell, Steve Davidson, Jerry Moore, Larry Gupton, Jimmy Phipps, Jeff Alsup, Todd Kemp, Harry Martin, Janet Osborn, Jim Hitt, Donnie Cantrell, Susanna Corn, and Julie Long.

Coaches are Chris Nichols, Ernest Smallen, and Doug Newman.

Teams are 1959 Girls Basketball, 1978 Baseball, and 1980 Girls Softball.
